As K'SerraSerra® US, is not a health plan, provider billing electronically, or clearinghouse and is, therefore, not directly covered under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

HIPAA primarily applies to entities such as healthcare providers, mental healthcare providers, health plans, and healthcare clearinghouses that handle protected health information (PHI) concerning medical or mental health services or insurance claims. 

These include:

  • Medical clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare providers that diagnose, treat, or engage in insurance electronically billable activities and claims.

  • Health Plans

  • Healthcare clearinghouses (organizations processing non-standard health information into standard formats).

  2. Data Handling Awareness: Some third-party systems we use, such as Acuity Scheduling, are not HIPAA-compliant but are implemented thoughtfully to limit the type of data collected and stored.

  3. Restricted Access: Access to your information is limited to authorized personnel, and we regularly review access controls.

  4. Confidentiality Agreements: All staff, volunteers, and third-party partners who handle sensitive information sign confidentiality agreements and are trained in privacy best practices.
